Agoda has launched a new AI-powered vacation planner tailored for Indian travelers, combining advanced natural language processing and visual technology to streamline the travel planning process. The tool, available through AgodaVacationPlanner.com until June 30, was developed using Google’s Gemini and Imagen technologies and is part of a limited-time marketing campaign by the Singapore-based online travel agency, which is owned by Booking Holdings.

Designed to deliver personalized travel experiences, the vacation planner uses AI to generate customized destination suggestions and full itineraries based on user preferences. Gemini, Google’s advanced large language model, handles the natural language processing to interpret user input and generate tailored recommendations. Imagen, Google’s visual AI model, then creates immersive visual content to help users better imagine their trip. The platform also features Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who serves as Agoda’s brand ambassador and voices itinerary summaries through text-to-speech AI as a character called “Mr. Vacaywala,” the campaign’s fictional chief wellness officer.

Khurrana said the planner removes the stress from trip planning by doing all the work on behalf of the traveler, creating personalized and visually engaging travel suggestions. He praised the innovation for its creative use of AI in transforming travel discovery and booking into a seamless, enjoyable experience.

Google executives also noted the strategic potential of AI to reshape the travel industry. Pulkit Lambah, industry head for travel at Google Asia Pacific, said the collaboration with Agoda demonstrates how technology can go beyond simple search and bookings to create deeply personalized and inspiring journeys powered by machine learning and generative AI.

Agoda’s co-founder and chairman Robert Rosenstein has consistently emphasized the role of AI in addressing major pain points in the travel sector. Speaking at The Phocuswright Conference 2024, Rosenstein outlined how Agoda is focusing on practical applications of AI that reduce traveler friction and improve decision-making. The AI Vacation Planner aligns with this mission by offering a high-touch, intuitive experience that guides users from initial inspiration to itinerary creation in one seamless process.

With the AI Vacation Planner campaign targeted at the Indian market, Agoda is looking to engage one of the world’s fastest-growing travel audiences with technology that feels both personal and futuristic. By combining voice interaction, image generation, and itinerary automation, the platform aims to enhance customer engagement while showcasing the capabilities of generative AI in real-world travel scenarios.

Agoda has been steadily expanding its AI capabilities across its product portfolio, and this latest campaign underscores its push toward becoming a leader in AI-driven travel solutions. As the June 30 deadline approaches, the company is using the campaign not only to inspire Indian travelers but also to test and refine new AI features that could shape the future of global travel planning.
