Cloudbeds CEO Taps AI to Transform Operations

Adam Harris, co-founder and CEO of Cloudbeds, is leading a broad push into artificial intelligence both personally and across his hospitality technology company. What began with using OpenAI tools to diagnose issues in his hydroponic garden has evolved into a company-wide initiative, with Cloudbeds adopting multiple AI strategies to boost productivity, enhance internal systems, and reimagine how teams work together. Harris says his own AI use has grown from a few times a day to hundreds, touching nearly every aspect of his professional and personal routines.

Despite this rapid adoption, Harris doesn’t believe AI will replace people. Instead, he views it as a thought partner supporting the company’s thought leaders. He believes the true potential lies in combining human creativity with AI’s capacity to accelerate problem-solving and efficiency. Cloudbeds launched Cloudbeds Labs to bring these innovations to customers, but much of the focus so far has been on internal systems, especially around knowledge sharing.

A major challenge for Harris is unlocking the collective knowledge of the company’s 700 employees spread across 41 countries. He describes knowledge silos as the biggest bottleneck in any organization and is developing an AI-driven system that consolidates knowledge across platforms like Slack, Zendesk, Salesforce, and GitHub. This internal RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) knowledge base will make information searchable and enable each department to deploy custom AI agents, eventually scaling to a company-wide level.

Cloudbeds has already seen quick wins. One HR team member reduced meeting-related tasks from half a day to minutes using AI. In recruiting, the company is now scanning hundreds of thousands of old resumes to identify promising candidates who may be a better fit today. AI is also being used to analyze questions from board meetings and fill knowledge gaps, making leadership discussions more effective.

AI is not only boosting productivity but also providing insight into employee sentiment. Cloudbeds is tapping into real-time feedback to understand how employees are feeling and what might be missing in their experience. Harris sees this as a powerful step toward a more responsive and connected company culture.

While Harris is enthusiastic, he acknowledges the importance of managing change carefully. He encourages thoughtful adoption, guiding teams to become leaders in how they apply AI rather than just relying on it. He’s focused on practical applications and finding low-hanging fruit that deliver clear value.

Harris also recognizes concerns, including environmental impact and overreliance on AI without human oversight. His approach is to instill balance, urging teams to check their work and continue being the driving force behind innovation.

Harris believes Cloudbeds is still in the early phases of AI adoption but is poised to accelerate. With a dedicated team building the infrastructure and a leadership culture invested in thoughtful use, Harris expects Cloudbeds to be running at full speed within the next six months.
