Viking Vesta Joins Fleet as Newest Ocean Cruise Ship

Viking has officially welcomed the Viking Vesta into its growing fleet of ocean cruise ships. Delivered at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy, the 499-stateroom vessel can accommodate up to 998 guests and will debut with itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
“As we continue to expand around the world, we are pleased to offer curious travelers new options for exploring in Viking comfort,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman and CEO of Viking. “We look forward to welcoming guests aboard Viking Vesta during her inaugural season and beyond.”
Viking Vesta joins a lineup of sister ships that emphasize minimalist Scandinavian design, enrichment-focused itineraries, and destination immersion. Viking continues to expand its ocean and river fleets to meet growing demand for culturally immersive travel.
The cruise line has ambitious plans to grow further, with 27 new river ships scheduled for delivery by 2028 and 10 additional ocean ships expected by 2031. This will bring Viking’s total fleet to 111 river vessels and 23 ocean and expedition ships.
Viking is also investing in green technology. The Viking Libra, a hydrogen-powered cruise ship under construction with Fincantieri, is expected to launch in late 2026 as one of the industry’s first zero-emission vessels. Following that, Viking Astrea—another hydrogen-powered ocean ship—is slated for delivery in 2027.
Viking continues to lead innovation in sustainable cruising while expanding its global footprint, offering travelers more eco-conscious options for exploring the world by sea.
