Cathay Cargo, the freight division of Cathay Pacific Group, has successfully transported ten terracotta warriors and over 200 ancient artefacts from Xi’an, China, to Perth, Australia, for a major international exhibition. The artefacts are part of the “Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor” exhibit hosted by the WA Museum Boola Bardip, in partnership with the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration and Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum. The exhibition is also supported by Cathay Pacific as a sponsor.

The delicate cargo was flown from Zhengzhou to Perth via Cathay’s Hong Kong hub, with meticulous coordination from Cathay Cargo and its logistics partners. From the early stages in Xi’an, the Cathay Cargo team closely managed the inventory check, packaging, and movement of the precious artefacts. A tailored loading plan was developed to match customer specifications, using safety nets, straps, and precision pallet build-up methods to ensure minimal vibration or impact during transit. GPS tracking was employed throughout the journey, and the cargo was continuously monitored under CCTV surveillance by trained personnel.

Cathay Cargo Director Tom Owen emphasized the complexity and care required in moving such culturally significant cargo. “It is a great privilege to help bring Chinese culture to the world,” he said. “This operation reflects our dedication to precision and our global expertise in handling special cargo.”

The exhibition in Perth will run until February 22, 2026, showcasing rare Chinese relics, many of which are leaving China for the first time. Cathay Cargo will also handle the return journey in 2026.
