Perth Airport Expands Global Routes and Boosts Connectivity

Perth Airport (PER) continues to strengthen its position as a vital international gateway to Australia, setting a new record in 2024 with 16.9 million passengers traveling to over 90 destinations through more than 30 airline partners.
Strategically located, Perth Airport offers shorter flying distances to Asia, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Europe, making it attractive for airlines seeking operational and economic efficiency. It remains the only Australian airport offering nonstop service to London and continental Europe.
The airport’s international network is rapidly growing. In March 2025, TransNusa launched service to Bali, set to expand to double daily flights in July. Cathay Pacific will resume double daily flights to Hong Kong in October, and China Southern Airlines returns to Perth in November with its Guangzhou service, restoring access to one of Western Australia’s key inbound markets. Virgin Australia, in partnership with Qatar Airways, began flights to Doha in June.
Qantas continues to invest in Perth as Australia’s western gateway, offering nonstop flights to London, Paris, and Rome, and resuming routes to Johannesburg and Auckland in December. Jetstar, also part of the Qantas Group, has added flights to Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket.
Looking ahead, Perth Airport is progressing a A$5 billion ($3.2 billion) redevelopment by 2031, which includes a new runway, upgraded terminals, multi-level parking, and a new hotel.
In collaboration with Tourism Western Australia, the airport promotes Perth as a global destination. New route opportunities highlighted include unserved markets such as Shanghai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Seoul, and Taipei.
