Wizz Air Moves Up Tel Aviv Relaunch to August 8

Wizz Air has announced an accelerated return to Israel, confirming it will resume flights to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport on August 8, 2025, a full month ahead of its original relaunch date. The move follows the European Aviation Safety Agency’s decision to lift flight restrictions on Israel, which were initially imposed after a military escalation between Israel and Iran.
The low-cost carrier had planned to restart its Tel Aviv services on September 15, 2025, but revised its timeline after EASA officially withdrew its safety advisory on July 7. That advisory had been in place since June 13, following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets and Iran’s subsequent retaliatory attacks. With the situation in the region now stabilised, Wizz Air is eager to reconnect its Israeli operations to the broader European and Middle Eastern network.
In a statement released on July 10, András Radó, Head of Communications at Wizz Air, said, “We’re back — and we’re back with purpose. Our early return to Tel Aviv demonstrates our commitment to our loyal Israeli passengers and to keeping the world connected.”
Wizz Air’s extensive Tel Aviv network includes 24 routes to 11 countries. Of these, 10 routes to eight countries will restart earlier than initially scheduled. The first two services to return on August 8 will be from Budapest in Hungary and Larnaca in Cyprus. This will be followed by additional routes beginning on September 1 from Milan, Rome, London, Vienna, Bucharest, Iasi, Sofia, and Abu Dhabi. The remaining routes are set to resume on the previously planned September 15 date.
The rapid return of services to Israel positions Wizz Air among the first European carriers to restart operations to the country following the lifting of flight restrictions. It follows an earlier announcement from United Airlines, which became the first US airline to confirm its return to Tel Aviv with flights resuming from New York/Newark starting July 21, 2025.
Wizz Air’s early return is not only a significant signal of restored confidence in Israel’s airspace but also a strategic step in regaining market share in one of the region’s key travel hubs. As travel demand rebounds, the airline’s move is expected to support tourism recovery and reconnect Israeli travelers with major European destinations.
With its low-cost model and wide network, Wizz Air’s re-entry into Tel Aviv is expected to be welcomed by both leisure and business travelers seeking affordable and convenient air travel options following months of uncertainty.
