Jetstar Adds Philippines Flights, Inks IndiGo Deal

Jetstar Airways is expanding its Asia-Pacific network with the launch of two new routes to the Philippines and a codeshare agreement with India’s largest airline, IndiGo. The expansion marks Jetstar’s return to the Philippine market for the first time in a decade, reinforcing its focus on fast-growing regional markets.
Starting November 27, Jetstar will operate direct flights from Perth to Manila, followed by a new Brisbane to Cebu route launching December 3. Both services will run three times weekly using the airline’s modern Airbus A321LR aircraft. These routes are expected to add over 108,000 seats annually between Australia and the Philippines, offering travelers more affordable and direct options.
Jetstar’s return to the Philippines comes amid its broader growth strategy. Since June 2024, the low-cost carrier has introduced or announced 20 new routes across its domestic and international network. This expansion is backed by its ongoing investment in fuel-efficient aircraft, including deliveries of A321LRs and A320neos, and redeployment of Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul flights.
The airline’s latest fleet developments include 79 A320-family aircraft and 11 Boeing 787-9s, with 57 new-generation Airbus narrowbodies on order. With Jetstar Asia shutting down by the end of July, its 13 A320 aircraft will be reassigned to strengthen operations in the Australian market.
Jetstar’s Perth–Manila flights will compete with Philippine Airlines’ existing service on the same route. However, Jetstar will become the only airline flying directly between Brisbane and Cebu, tapping into a currently unserved market.
Further boosting its regional connectivity, Jetstar has signed a codeshare agreement with IndiGo. Starting September 1, subject to regulatory approval, IndiGo will place its code on Jetstar flights from Southeast Asia to 14 destinations in Australia and New Zealand, including Sydney, Auckland and the Gold Coast. Passengers will be able to book seamless itineraries on a single ticket via hubs in Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket.
Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully emphasized the growing potential of Indian outbound travel, stating that the partnership with IndiGo is a key part of Jetstar’s plan to capture demand from one of the world’s most dynamic travel markets. For IndiGo, the codeshare expands its global footprint and creates more options for passengers connecting to the South Pacific.
Together, the new flights and partnership are set to drive greater travel between Australia, the Philippines, and India, underscoring Jetstar’s focus on building a stronger and more competitive network across the Asia-Pacific.
