Horizon Air Resumes E175 Deliveries After Tariff Delay

Horizon Air, the regional subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, has resumed deliveries of Embraer E175 jets following a brief pause due to U.S. tariffs on Brazilian imports. The airline recently received two new E175 aircraft which were incorporated into the fleet on June 27 and are now in active service, according to ADS-B tracking data.

The delivery delay stemmed from tariffs imposed by the U.S. government on Brazilian goods, part of a broader trade dispute under former President Donald Trump. The 10% tariff on Brazilian imports affected several industries, including aerospace. However, Embraer was able to mitigate some of the impact by deducting U.S.-made components from the aircraft’s value, and certain business jets are already assembled at its facility in Florida.

Horizon Air now operates a fleet of 47 Embraer E175 jets, with three more on order. Alaska Air Group confirmed that the remaining aircraft will not be added in 2025, suggesting a pause in further fleet expansion amid ongoing political and economic uncertainty.

Tensions between the U.S. and Brazil remain high following Trump’s threat to impose a 50% tariff on all Brazilian imports by August 1 unless President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva halts legal action against former president Jair Bolsonaro. The escalating trade dispute could potentially impact future Embraer orders in the U.S., although operators like Flexjet have expressed continued support for the Brazilian manufacturer.

Alaska Air Group confirmed the delivery and entry into service of both aircraft.
