Royal Caribbean to Build Perfect Day Mexico at Costa Maya Port

Royal Caribbean has officially taken over operations at the Port of Grand Costa Maya in Mahahual, Mexico, as it begins development of its new private destination, Perfect Day Mexico. The project is expected to be completed by 2027 and will span more than 200 acres along Mexico’s Caribbean coastline.
Perfect Day Mexico will feature a wide range of attractions, including a cruise port, expansive waterpark, the world’s longest lazy river, an adults-only pool, a premium beach club, and party zones. The destination will also offer 12 dining venues and 24 bar options, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
According to Riviera Maya News, the cruise line confirmed the port takeover on July 11, noting that the port will remain open throughout the two-year construction period. The total investment in the project is estimated at $600 million.
Royal Caribbean purchased the port and 34 adjacent properties for $292 million as part of its long-term strategic expansion in Mexico. The development will also be connected to the Maya Train, enhancing accessibility for tourists exploring the region.
Despite Royal Caribbean’s control, the port will remain open to all cruise lines, maintaining its role as a multi-operator facility. This inclusive access ensures continued economic benefit to the Mahahual region while allowing Royal Caribbean to develop one of its largest and most innovative destinations.
Perfect Day Mexico follows the success of Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas and marks a major step in Royal Caribbean’s Caribbean expansion.
