Solo travel has evolved far beyond budget hostels and backpacking, with more luxury brands now catering to independent travelers seeking comfort, culture, and wellness. The segment continues to grow, with companies reporting a surge in demand for upscale solo travel experiences.

Tour operators like Intrepid Travel say over half of their clients now travel alone, while Classic Journeys reports one-third of its guests are solo. Classic Vacations has also seen increased demand for customized itineraries across Europe, especially Florence, Lisbon, and Spain. Macs Adventure specializes in self-guided, upscale trips, noting that 57% of its customers are solo female travelers. Its offerings include hikes on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Japan’s Kumano Kodo trails, and Scotland’s Highlands.

Luxury cruise lines are also embracing solo travelers. AmaWaterways highlights stories from single cruisers, Regent Seven Seas offers reduced single supplements, and Riviera Travel has introduced 30 solo-only sailings for 2025. In the Galápagos, Ecoventura provides luxury yacht expeditions with solo discounts and naturalist-led excursions.

Hotels are curating packages designed for independent guests. Jade Mountain in St. Lucia offers a “Singlemoon” with spa treatments, yoga, and private dining, while Hotel Three Sixty in Costa Rica provides a “Solo Serenity” experience. London’s Hyatt Place City East has SHe Travel Club certification for safety, while Los Cabos’ Corazón Cabo Resort features a “Joy of Missing Out” package.

Wellness retreats add another layer of appeal, from Mandapa in Bali and SOUKYA in India to Palace Merano in Italy and the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort. These properties allow solo travelers to combine luxury with self-care in unique, inspiring settings.
