JetBlue and United Airlines Partnership: What Travelers Can Expect

JetBlue and United Airlines have secured Department of Transportation (DOT) approval for their new Blue Sky partnership, a collaboration designed to expand booking options, loyalty rewards, and flight access for passengers. The airlines first announced the partnership in May, and with the DOT review now complete, implementation will begin this fall.
“JetBlue and United appreciate the DOT’s review of Blue Sky and look forward to rolling out new benefits in phases,” the carriers said in a joint statement.
The agreement will function as an interline partnership, allowing customers to book flights across both carriers through their websites and apps for a seamless booking experience. Travelers will also gain access to reciprocal loyalty benefits. United’s MileagePlus members can earn and redeem miles on most JetBlue flights, while JetBlue’s TrueBlue members can use points across United’s extensive domestic and international network. Additional perks such as priority boarding, preferred seating, and same-day changes or standby will also be available across both airlines.
The Blue Sky deal further expands flight access at key airports. JetBlue will provide United with slots at New York’s JFK Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights beginning in 2027. The airlines will also exchange eight flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Beyond flights, the partnership integrates United’s hotel, rental car, cruise, and travel insurance options into JetBlue’s Paisly booking platform, offering customers a one-stop travel experience.
With Blue Sky, both airlines aim to deliver greater flexibility, stronger loyalty rewards, and expanded connectivity for millions of travelers.
