Carnival Cruise Line is bidding farewell to one of its most influential leaders as Mike Julius retires after 36 years with the company. Julius, who currently serves as vice president of North American field sales, has been a cornerstone of Carnival’s sales and travel advisor relations for decades.

Julius began his Carnival career in 1989 after working in leisure travel and agency management. Over the years, he has held multiple leadership roles, including managing director for the U.S. and regional vice president for the central U.S., helping shape Carnival’s sales strategy across North America. Based primarily in Iowa and wintering in Palm Springs, Julius has been a respected figure both inside the company and within the travel advisor community.

Earlier this year, Julius received TravelAge West’s 2025 Excellence in Leadership award, underscoring his long-standing contributions to the cruise industry. Known for his mentorship and commitment to building high-performing teams, he has been a trusted advocate for travel advisors and a driving force behind Carnival’s growth into the “World’s Most Popular Cruise Line.”

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy praised Julius’s impact, calling him “an outstanding ambassador” who played a pivotal role in the brand’s success. She emphasized his leadership in fostering strong relationships with travel partners and nurturing future industry leaders.

As Julius embarks on his well-deserved retirement, his legacy remains deeply ingrained in Carnival’s culture, reflecting decades of dedication, innovation, and support for the travel advisor community.
