Philippines AirAsia to Reopen Cebu Hub With New Routes

Philippines AirAsia will reopen its base in Cebu in mid-November 2025, restoring and expanding its network from the city with seven new routes. According to ch-aviation schedules data, the low-cost carrier will re-establish Cebu as a key domestic and international hub after scaling back operations in 2024.
On the domestic front, flights will include two daily services to both Caticlan and Davao starting November 15, four weekly flights to Iloilo beginning November 16, and three weekly flights to Puerto Princesa from November 15. These additions mark a significant return to key leisure and business destinations across the Philippines.
Internationally, the airline has filed for three new routes from Cebu: four weekly flights to Bangkok Don Mueang beginning November 16, daily service to Kuala Lumpur International starting November 15, and three weekly flights to Macau International from November 15.
All flights will be operated by the carrier’s Airbus A320-200 fleet, configured with 180 all-economy seats. Philippines AirAsia currently operates 25 A320-200s, 13 of which are in storage and expected to return to service as the network ramps up.
At present, the airline flies only to Manila Ninoy Aquino International from Cebu with 46 weekly frequencies. The reopening of the Cebu base represents a strategic move to rebuild market presence in the Visayas region and reconnect international traffic flows. By reestablishing its Cebu hub, Philippines AirAsia aims to capture rising demand for both domestic and regional travel ahead of the peak holiday season.
