P&WC Inks 15-Year APU Deal With Singapore Airlines

Pratt & Whitney Canada has signed a 15-year maintenance agreement with Singapore Airlines covering 34 APS5000 auxiliary power units (APUs) powering the carrier’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. The long-term deal ensures that these advanced APUs will continue to operate at peak performance, providing reliable power and efficiency for Singapore Airlines’ long-haul operations.
Anthony Rossi, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada, said the program delivers tailored maintenance solutions that uphold original equipment standards and support the airline’s high dispatch reliability. The APS5000 was developed exclusively for the 787 Dreamliner and is recognized as the industry’s first all-electric APU, designed to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and simplify maintenance.
With 450kVA of electrical power output at sea level and the ability to start and operate at altitudes up to 43,100 feet, the APS5000 is also the quietest and cleanest APU in its class. More than 1,400 units have been produced globally, accumulating nearly 16 million flight hours.
Pratt & Whitney Canada’s maintenance programs provide airlines with flexibility, predictable cost structures, and extended service intervals to maximize operational performance. For Singapore Airlines, the agreement helps maintain high passenger service standards by ensuring the Dreamliner’s APUs remain efficient and reliable for years to come.
The contract underscores Pratt & Whitney Canada’s commitment to supporting next-generation APU technology and highlights Singapore Airlines’ focus on operational excellence and sustainability across its fleet.
