Emirates Opens New Pilot Training Centre in Dubai

Emirates has officially opened a state-of-the-art crew training centre in Dubai dedicated to preparing pilots for its incoming Boeing 777X and Airbus A350 fleets. The Dhs500 million ($136 million) investment adds significant capacity to the airline’s existing training campus and underscores its commitment to readying crews for next-generation aircraft.

The new facility houses six full-flight simulator bays. Two Airbus A350 simulators are already installed and operational, with pilot training under way. Emirates says four additional simulators, including the first 777X devices, will be delivered over the next two years as the carrier ramps up its training programs.

Emirates has ordered 65 A350-900s, nine of which had been delivered by the end of August, and an extensive 205-aircraft 777X backlog comprising 170 777-9s and 35 777-8s. The first 777X is scheduled to arrive in 2027, making early pilot training essential to ensure a smooth entry into service.

Integrated into the simulators is a pilot support station designed to streamline preparation by managing flight deck configurations and flight plan development, helping pilots maximize each training session. All sessions are fully recorded, enabling instructors to replay and analyze any moment to enhance performance feedback and learning outcomes.

Once fully operational, Emirates’ training campus will feature 17 full-flight simulators, including 11 already used for Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 crews. The expansion positions the airline to maintain its high training standards as it transitions to more advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft.
