Silk Way West Airlines has expanded its long-term partnership with GE Aerospace through an extended services agreement covering the carrier’s growing fleet of widebody freighters. The deal provides comprehensive support for five GEnx-2B-powered Boeing 747-8 Freighters, six GE90-115B-powered 777 Freighters, and up to four GE9X-powered 777-8 Freighters.

The Azerbaijani all-cargo airline is in the midst of a major fleet modernization strategy, having announced orders for Boeing 777-8 Freighter and 777 Freighter aircraft in 2021 and 2022. Handling more than 500,000 tonnes of cargo annually, Silk Way West operates a network of over 40 destinations across Europe, the CIS, the Middle East, Central Asia, Eastern Asia, and the Americas.

Chief Operating Officer Onno Pietersma said the extended agreement will help Silk Way West deliver on its long-term growth strategy while continuously improving services for customers. The partnership gives the carrier access to GE Aerospace’s advanced maintenance programs designed to maximize engine reliability and efficiency throughout the lifecycle.

Russell Stokes, President and CEO of Commercial Engines and Services at GE Aerospace, said the company is proud to support Silk Way West as it modernizes its fleet, noting that GE’s widebody engines are engineered to lower operating costs and reduce environmental impact.

All GE Aerospace commercial engines are already certified to run on Sustainable Aviation Fuel blends, aligning with Silk Way West’s sustainability goals. The extended agreement underscores both companies’ focus on reliable operations and environmentally responsible growth in the global air cargo market.
