BermudAir Settles Airport Fee Dispute With Skyport

BermudAir and Skyport, the operator of Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport, have reached an agreement to resolve a protracted dispute over unpaid airport fees dating back to 2023. The deal, which includes a payment plan, brings an end to months of legal wrangling between the carrier and the airport operator.
According to local media, the unpaid fees had grown to millions of dollars, though Skyport and BermudAir have not disclosed the final settlement amount. In a statement, BermudAir said the agreement provides “clarity and focus” for the airline as it works to build a “strong, sustainable” business delivering long-term benefits to Bermuda and its residents.
Skyport confirmed to The Royal Gazette that the payment plan is now in place but declined to provide additional details, citing confidentiality agreements.
The dispute came to a head in July when Skyport filed legal action after more than a year of unsuccessful attempts to reach a resolution over the unpaid fees. At the time, Skyport said BermudAir owed roughly BMD700,000 (USD700,000) in concessions.
BermudAir operates a small fleet of two Embraer E175s and two E190s, providing regional connectivity for the island nation. The resolution of its airport fee dispute allows the airline to focus on stabilizing operations and expanding its service network without the shadow of ongoing litigation.
Industry observers note that the agreement also benefits Skyport by ensuring steady revenue streams as Bermuda’s only commercial airport continues to recover from pandemic-era disruptions.
