Holland America Delivers Aid to Ocho Rios After Hurricane Melissa

Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam returned to Ocho Rios on November 11, delivering nearly 5,000 boxes of relief supplies and bringing guests and volunteers to support Jamaica’s recovery from Hurricane Melissa.

The shipment included pantry-safe foods, baking ingredients, water, toiletries, cleaning supplies, bedding and clothing. The cruise line also provided a large donation of canned meat supplied by partner AlphaOne USA.

“We are honored to return to Ocho Rios and deeply grateful for the collaboration with the port, local community and tour operators,” said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line. “Tourism is vital to Jamaica’s recovery and future, and our guests are committed to supporting the local economy during this challenging time.”

Zuiderdam—the first of two cruise ships to arrive in Ocho Rios that day—carried more than 1,900 guests and made a stop at Reynolds Pier to deliver the aid to Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.

As Holland America resumes visits to destinations impacted by the storm, the line is also offering travelers early access to its Black Friday presale. Beginning November 12, guests who sign up at hollandamerica.com can book discounted fares on cruises through October 2027 before the sale opens to the public on November 20.

The promotion includes up to 30 percent off fares, free prepaid crew appreciation, 50 percent reduced deposits and free or reduced fares for third and fourth guests sharing the same stateroom.

“Whether it’s a multigenerational adventure to Alaska or a relaxing Caribbean escape, this presale gives travelers a head start on Black Friday savings,” said Dan Rough, vice president of revenue management for Holland America Line.
