Morocco Orders 10 Airbus H225M Helicopters to Replace Puma Fleet

Morocco has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters for 10 H225M helicopters, marking the next phase of its fleet modernization as it prepares to retire its long-serving Puma helicopters. The deal was announced on November 18, 2025, during the Dubai Airshow.
The new H225Ms will join the Royal Moroccan Air Force, where they will be used primarily for combat search and rescue missions. Each helicopter will be equipped with a double hoist installation, searchlight, Safran Euroflir 410 electro-optical system, machine-gun capability and an electronic warfare suite for enhanced self-protection.
“We are honored that Morocco has chosen to replace its legacy Puma fleet with the H225M,” said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “This order reinforces the H225M’s reputation as the aircraft of choice for demanding missions and strengthens our decades-long partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco.”
Morocco’s partnership with Airbus dates back to 1951, and its Puma fleet was originally purchased in 1974 through an agreement with France. The remaining aircraft underwent modernization in 2007.
Airbus’ footprint in Morocco has continued to grow. In 2024, Airbus Helicopters announced a new customer center in the country, supporting approximately 60 Airbus helicopters operated by the Royal Moroccan Air Force, Royal Navy and Royal Gendarmerie.
The latest contract includes a comprehensive support and services package, including connected services. Existing helicopter infrastructure in Morocco will be expanded into a regional maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub for West Africa, with new facilities dedicated to supporting Airbus helicopter fleets across the region.
