Sun Country to Open Cincinnati Cargo Base in Early 2026

Sun Country Airlines will establish a new base at Cincinnati International Airport, an important Amazon logistics hub, with operations set to begin on January 31, 2026. The base will initially support the carrier’s expanding cargo division, which operates twenty Boeing 737-800BCFs exclusively for Amazon’s Prime Air network.

Chief executive Jude Bricker said the move marks a significant milestone in Sun Country’s strategy to grow beyond its Minneapolis–St. Paul home base, which currently accounts for 96.5% of the airline’s scheduled passenger capacity. The Cincinnati hub will enhance operational efficiency for Amazon cargo flights and provide additional flexibility for future aircraft and crew deployments.

While the new base is being launched to serve cargo operations, Sun Country noted it could also support growth in the airline’s scheduled passenger network over time. The expansion underscores the carrier’s increasing reliance on diversified operations, which include scheduled service, charter flying, and contracted cargo operations for Amazon.
