Korea’s Hanjin Group Airlines to Roll Out Starlink Inflight Wi-Fi

Korean Air and fellow Hanjin Group carriers Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan and Air Seoul are preparing to introduce Starlink high-speed inflight connectivity across their entire fleets, bringing fast, low-latency wi-fi to every cabin class.

Starlink, SpaceX’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, currently operates more than 8,000 satellites at roughly 550km altitude. The system delivers peak speeds of up to 500 Mbps, enabling passengers to enjoy streaming, online gaming, video calls, cloud-based work, shopping and messaging with minimal interruption.

All five airlines will begin preparation and system testing ahead of installations scheduled to start later this year. Rollout timelines will vary by carrier, with the earliest commercial service expected in the third quarter of 2026.

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines will prioritise Starlink installation on their long-haul Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 fleets. After the integration of Asiana Airlines, Korean Air aims to complete full-fleet installation by the end of 2027. Jin Air will begin with its Boeing 737-8 aircraft, while Air Busan and Air Seoul will assess their fleets to determine the most efficient installation sequence.
