China Approves Airbus Deliveries for Existing Aircraft Orders

Airbus has received approval from Chinese authorities to proceed with the delivery of 120 aircraft that were previously ordered by customers in the country, although discussions around a major new order for several hundred additional jets remain unresolved.
The European aircraft manufacturer said the agreement, signed during French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Beijing, authorises deliveries of aircraft that are already included in Airbus’s existing order book. Both Airbus and Boeing are still awaiting progress on large-scale aircraft orders from China, which have been delayed in recent years amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. Airbus has been seeking a potential order for around 500 aircraft since 2024.
Industry data show that nine Chinese airlines and leasing companies hold firm orders for more than 350 Airbus aircraft, spanning types from the A320neo family to the A350-900. However, many Chinese aircraft commitments are typically not disclosed publicly until delivery, making the full scale of future deliveries difficult to assess.
