MIMARU Expands Pokémon-Themed Hotel Rooms Across Japan

MIMARU has announced the renovation and expansion of its popular Pokémon Rooms, giving fans new and enhanced options for themed stays across Japan. The update reinforces MIMARU’s positioning as a family-friendly, experience-driven accommodation brand tailored to longer stays and group travel.
Operated by Cosmos Hotel Management Co., Ltd., MIMARU has refreshed a total of 100 Pokémon Rooms across 10 properties in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. The rollout includes newly added locations at MIMARU Tokyo Hatchobori and MIMARU Tokyo Ikebukuro, expanding access to the themed rooms in key urban districts popular with international and domestic travelers alike.
The redesigned rooms follow two central concepts: more Pokémon and more fun for the whole family. Each room is designed to create a fully immersive environment that appeals to younger guests while also tapping into the nostalgia of adult Pokémon fans. With MIMARU properties typically located near major sightseeing areas, shopping districts and transportation hubs, guests can easily explore the city during the day and return to a playful, themed space in the evening.
More than 100 Pokémon characters are featured throughout the rooms, appearing on walls, ceilings, furniture, kitchens and even bathrooms. The layout includes themed zones, such as bathrooms inspired by calm Water-type Pokémon and kitchens decorated with food-loving characters, encouraging families to cook and dine together within the apartment-style setting.
A standout feature of every Pokémon Room is a giant Snorlax plush positioned on the bed, designed as both a visual centerpiece and a memorable photo opportunity. Poké Ball-inspired details extend the theme further, with custom-designed dining tables, tableware and bed linens reinforcing the immersive experience at every touchpoint.
The rooms also emphasize interactive discovery. Hidden Pokémon details are placed throughout the space to encourage exploration by children, while design references spanning both classic and newer generations of the franchise provide a sense of familiarity and excitement for long-time fans. This layered approach helps ensure the experience feels engaging for guests of all ages.
Each stay includes special-edition, MIMARU-exclusive Pokémon merchandise, such as themed fabric bags and collectible items, adding a take-home element to the visit. Reservations for the renovated Pokémon Rooms are currently open through the end of November 2026, offering ample opportunity for travelers to plan themed stays as part of future trips to Japan.
