Mark Tamis is expanding his leadership responsibilities at Seabourn and Holland America Line, taking on oversight of guest experience and product development across both brands.

Tamis will continue serving as president of Seabourn while assuming the broader role, further aligning the luxury and premium cruise lines under a unified guest experience strategy. He joined the company in November 2024 and brings decades of hospitality and cruise industry experience, including senior leadership positions at Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

In his expanded position, Tamis will oversee product innovation, onboard programming, culinary direction and overall guest operations, with a focus on enhancing service standards and experiential offerings across both fleets. His background in luxury hospitality and food and beverage operations is expected to play a key role in shaping future shipboard experiences.

The leadership transition follows the retirement of Michael Smith, senior vice president of guest experience and product development, effective May 1. Smith will support the transition over the coming months and remain involved as a consultant on ship refurbishment projects after his departure. Company executives credited Smith with leaving a lasting imprint on service, product quality and brand positioning.

Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, said Tamis’ leadership and expertise will ensure continuity as the brands continue to evolve their onboard offerings. The appointment reflects a strategic effort to maintain high service standards while advancing culinary, entertainment and product development initiatives.

In addition to Tamis’ expanded role, the company promoted Michael Stendebach to senior vice president of food, beverage and rooms for both Holland America Line and Seabourn. The move strengthens executive oversight across hospitality functions at a time when both brands are focused on refining their premium and ultra-luxury guest experiences.

The leadership changes underscore a broader strategy to enhance operational alignment and elevate the onboard product across two distinct yet complementary cruise brands.
