Etihad Airways will introduce its flagship Airbus A380 on the Abu Dhabi–Bangkok route starting October 25, 2026, marking the first time the double-deck aircraft will operate scheduled services to Thailand’s capital.

The A380 will serve the daily evening flight between Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, significantly increasing capacity on one of Etihad’s key leisure routes ahead of the Northern Hemisphere winter peak season. The deployment underscores the commercial importance of Thailand within Etihad’s long-haul network.

Etihad’s A380 is configured with multiple cabin products, including its most exclusive offering, The Residence. Marketed as a private three-room suite, The Residence features a living room, separate bedroom, and an en-suite shower room, accommodating up to two guests with dedicated cabin crew service.

The aircraft also includes nine First Apartments in first class, each offering a private space with an 80-inch lie-flat bed and a separate leather lounge chair, along with access to an onboard shower facility. Business class comprises 70 fully lie-flat seats with direct aisle access, located on the upper deck. Economy class provides 405 seats in total, including 68 Economy Space seats with extra legroom and 337 standard Economy seats. A social area known as The Lobby is positioned between the first and business class cabins.

Under the published schedule, the A380 service will depart Abu Dhabi at 21:20 local time and arrive in Bangkok at 06:35 the following day. The return flight will leave Bangkok at 08:30 and land in Abu Dhabi at 12:20 local time. The service is planned to operate year-round.

Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De said Bangkok has been one of the most requested destinations for the airline’s A380, reflecting strong passenger demand. The route enhances connectivity between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe via Abu Dhabi’s hub.

The timing coincides with Thailand’s peak tourism season, when visitor numbers typically rise during the cooler winter months. By deploying the A380, Etihad will offer a substantial increase in seat capacity compared with smaller widebody aircraft previously used on the route.

The airline is also promoting its Abu Dhabi Stopover Programme in conjunction with the new service, encouraging travelers to extend their journeys in the UAE capital as part of a broader strategy to boost tourism and differentiate its network offering.
