Jet2 Flight Delayed After Pilot Forgets Passport

A Jet2 flight from Scotland to Turkey was delayed after the pilot scheduled to operate the aircraft reportedly forgot to bring his passport, forcing the airline to arrange a replacement pilot at short notice.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Glasgow International Airport to the popular holiday destination of Antalya on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. Holidaymakers were due to leave at 7:45 a.m., but the service was delayed until 9:07 a.m. after the issue was discovered shortly before departure.
Passengers on board were informed that the delay occurred because the pilot did not have his passport, which is required for international flights. Without the necessary travel documents, the pilot could not legally operate the flight into Turkey.
Rather than waiting for the original pilot to retrieve the passport and return to the airport, Jet2 arranged for another pilot to step in and take over the flight. According to passengers, the replacement pilot was able to reach the airport more quickly, allowing the airline to minimize the delay and get the aircraft airborne as soon as possible.
One passenger said travelers were informed about the situation while waiting to depart.
“We were told the delay was because the pilot forgot his passport,” the passenger explained. “They got another pilot who was closer rather than waiting for the original pilot to go back home to get the passport and return to the airport. The replacement pilot saved the day and got us on our way as quickly as possible.”
The aircraft eventually departed Glasgow at 9:07 a.m., roughly 80 minutes behind schedule. The flight was originally expected to arrive in Antalya at 3:35 p.m., but it landed later at approximately 4:44 p.m.

A spokesperson for Jet2 confirmed the delay but did not provide specific details about the passport issue.
“The flight was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances,” the spokesperson said. “We would like to apologise to affected customers for the short delay and can confirm that we got them on their way as soon as possible.”
Despite the disruption, the airline was able to resolve the issue relatively quickly by arranging an alternative pilot to operate the flight.
