A4A joins coalition urging federal prosecution of unruly passengers
Airlines for America joined a coalition of industry partners to urge Attorney General Merrick Garland to federally prosecute passengers who display unruly or disruptive behavior onboard passenger aircraft. “[T]he federal government should send a strong and consistent message through criminal enforcement that compliance with federal law and upholding aviation safety are of paramount importance,” the letter stated. In a separate letter to FAA Administrator Steve Dickson, A4A President and CEO Nicholas Calio urged the agency to refer cases for criminal prosecution and increase public communication efforts.
