Abra Group Expands Fleet with 50 A320neo and A330neo Lease

Abra Group has placed an additional order for 50 Airbus A320neo aircraft and signed an operating lease agreement with Avolon for five A330-900neo widebodies, scheduled for delivery in 2026. The company also signed a Letter of Intent with the lessor for up to two more A330-900neo aircraft.
The new order brings Abra’s total A320neo commitment to 150, with 138 aircraft still pending delivery, according to Airbus. While delivery dates were not disclosed, the group said the widebody aircraft “may be operated by any company” within its portfolio, which includes Avianca, GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, Wamos Air, and the Chile-based start-up NG Servicios Aéreos. None of these airlines currently operate the A330-900neo.
Abra noted that fleet allocation will depend on operational and financial needs, as well as market opportunities. The deal aligns with the group’s broader strategic plan to strengthen its regional and international presence, complementing recent decisions to streamline its fleet and enhance capacity.
Abra Group Limited is an airline holding company established in 2022 and headquartered in the United Kingdom. The group was formed through a strategic partnership between two of Latin America’s leading carriers—Avianca Group and GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes—with the goal of creating a stronger, more competitive aviation network across the region. Abra Group serves as a parent company overseeing the strategic, financial, and operational alignment of its airline partners while allowing them to maintain their distinct brands and management teams.
Through this structure, Abra Group seeks to capitalize on synergies in fleet management, loyalty programs, technology, and procurement while expanding connectivity across the Americas. The group’s portfolio includes Avianca and GOL as core members, with significant interests in Viva Air and Sky Airline as part of its broader network ambitions. Abra’s creation marked one of the most significant consolidation moves in Latin American aviation since the LATAM Group merger, aiming to strengthen the region’s competitiveness against global carriers.
Data shows Avianca currently operates a mix of Airbus narrowbodies and Boeing 787-8s, while Wamos Air flies A330-200s and A330-300s, and GOL Linhas Aéreas relies on a Boeing 737 fleet.
The South American aviation holding recently announced plans to file for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States and establish a new ACMI and charter carrier in Chile. At the same time, GOL revealed plans to go private and delist from the B3 Brazil Stock Exchange as part of its corporate restructuring.
