Accountability needed for corporate pledges
Several corporations were moved to make diversity pledges last year following the murder of George Floyd, but there needs to be an accountability system in place to track the progress of these commitments, writes Kristin Schwab. “Make your pledges real by giving us a piece of paper that says that ‘Yes, we’ve made this pledge, and we empower this trustee to keep track of what we’re saying,” said Creative Investment Research CEO William Michael Cunningham, who proposes the creation of an independent trust.
