Aerlink Relaunches ATR42 Operations in Australia
Charter and cargo specialist Aerlink has resumed operations with the ATR42-500, reintroducing the aircraft into its fleet. Registered as VH-FVN (msn 501), the ex-Hevilift PNG aircraft marks the return of the ATR42 Family to Aerlink’s lineup, complementing its fleet of two ATR72-200(F)s and six ATR72-500s.
ADS-B data reveals that the aircraft, previously registered as P2-KSV, was ferried from Port Moresby to Cairns on October 26 and officially added to the Australian register on November 6. The aircraft is managed by Castlelake through Capstone Aviation Pte Ltd, a foreign-registered entity with ties to Hevilift.
Aerlink, formerly Hevilift Australia, underwent rebranding in early 2023. The ATR42-500 is now stationed in Townsville, continuing a trend of aircraft transfers between Aerlink and Hevilift PNG to meet operational demands.
The airline operates a diverse range of charter services. Its ATR72 freighters handle key routes such as Brisbane-Sydney, Brisbane-Rockhampton, and Brisbane-Mackay for Qantas Freight. Meanwhile, three ATR72-500 passenger aircraft serve mining contracts out of Perth, while others operate on Brisbane-Moranbah and Townsville-Osborne Mine routes.
The reintroduction of the ATR42-500 enhances Aerlink’s ability to serve its clients across cargo and charter sectors, reflecting its flexibility and commitment to meeting dynamic market demands.
