Aero Dili Expands Fleet with First Airbus A319-100
Aero Dili (8G, Dili) has taken delivery of its first Airbus A319-100, doubling its fleet size and marking a significant milestone for Timor-Leste’s only scheduled passenger airline. The aircraft, registered as 4W-AAO (msn 2825), was previously operated by China Eastern Airlines and is 18.5 years old.
The A319 was ferried from Xi’an Xianyang to Bandung via Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta on January 18, 2025, for repainting under Aero Dili’s ‘DTL’ code. The airline celebrated the addition during a signing ceremony in Dili on January 15, calling it a key step in expanding its services.
Currently, Aero Dili operates an A320-200 (4W-AAL) on routes connecting Dili to Denpasar (daily), Oecussi (twice-weekly), and Singapore Changi (weekly). The addition of the A319 will support the airline’s preliminary plans to launch flights to Melbourne Tullamarine and Darwin, further strengthening its regional network.
The A319, configured to serve short- to medium-haul routes, is expected to enhance Aero Dili’s capacity and flexibility, addressing growing passenger demand in Timor-Leste and beyond.
“We are thrilled to introduce the A319 to our fleet, reinforcing our commitment to delivering quality air travel for the region,” Aero Dili announced on social media.
This fleet expansion positions Aero Dili for continued growth as it seeks to establish itself as a key player in Southeast Asia’s aviation market. Further operational details have not yet been disclosed.
