Aero Dili Launches A319 Flights to Boost Timor-Leste Connectivity

Aero Dili has officially launched Airbus A319-100 operations, marking a new chapter for Timor-Leste’s aviation sector. The inaugural revenue flight with the A319 took place on March 24, connecting Dili and Oecussi. A special ceremony at Dili Airport celebrated the milestone, highlighting the airline’s growing role in enhancing regional connectivity.
“This milestone represents our commitment to advancing air connectivity, enhancing passenger experience, and supporting the growth of Timor-Leste’s aviation sector,” Aero Dili shared via its official Facebook page.
The aircraft, registered as 4W-AAO (msn 2825), is the airline’s first A319 and was delivered in January 2025. Previously operated by China Eastern Airlines, the 18.7-year-old aircraft is powered by CFM56 engines and is dry-leased from AFG Aviation Ireland, a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) for Aircraft Finance Germany.
Aero Dili is the only scheduled carrier based in Timor-Leste and continues to expand its international and domestic network. In addition to Dili-Oecussi flights, the airline currently operates services to Denpasar, Singapore Changi, and Xiamen—its first destination in China. The carrier has also announced plans to begin flights to Darwin and Melbourne, further boosting access to and from Australia.
Alongside the A319, Aero Dili’s fleet includes one Airbus A320-200, according to ch-aviation data. With the introduction of the A319, the airline aims to offer increased capacity and reliability on key routes, supporting tourism, business travel, and economic development in Timor-Leste.
