Aerolíneas Argentinas Cleared to Add Routes in Brazil

Aerolíneas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) has confirmed that Brazil’s civil aviation authority, Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC), has lifted a sanction that had restricted the carrier from launching new routes or increasing frequencies from September 2025.
The Argentine flag carrier said the restriction was tied to administrative infractions dating back prior to 2023, describing them as purely documentary in nature. The airline stressed that the issues were not related to operational safety, passenger service, or compliance with flight operations.
In July 2025, ANAC imposed the ban, preventing Aerolíneas from expanding its network in Brazil by either opening new routes or adding flights to its existing destinations. At the time, the order applied to major airports including Brasília Juscelino Kubitschek International, Rio de Janeiro International, Salvador International, and Curitiba International, which the airline currently serves. It also extended to Florianopolis, a city the carrier is authorized to operate flights to but had not yet launched services.
With the sanction now lifted, Aerolíneas Argentinas is once again able to plan route growth and frequency increases in Brazil, one of its most important international markets. Brazil represents a key destination for Argentine travelers, particularly for leisure traffic to beach destinations and business links between Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and Brasília.
The decision clears the way for the airline to strengthen its regional connectivity and continue its broader growth strategy across South America. Aerolíneas has not yet disclosed whether it will prioritize reinstating services to Florianopolis or adding flights to its current Brazilian destinations.
