Aeromexico is set to introduce nonstop service between Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on June 5, 2025, marking the first direct connection between the two cities in over five years.

Before this announcement, Philadelphia was the largest U.S. market without direct service to Mexico City, requiring passengers to connect through other airports. PHL CEO Atif Saeed emphasized the importance of the route, stating, “Prior to this announcement, anyone needing to travel to Mexico City had to start their journey at another airport or have a layover along the way.”

The new daily flight will be operated year-round with a Boeing 737 aircraft. In addition to launching the Mexico City-Philadelphia route, Aeromexico will also introduce nonstop service between San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on the same day. The San Luis Potosí-Atlanta route will be operated daily using an Embraer 190 aircraft.

These new routes are part of Aeromexico’s transborder joint venture (JV) with Delta Air Lines, which is based at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The JV has been instrumental in expanding connectivity between Mexico and the United States. In 2024 alone, the partnership introduced 28 new scheduled and seasonal routes, and the expansion into 2025 continues that momentum.

By launching the two new services in June, the JV will reach a total of 57 routes, covering 26 airports, and operating approximately 90 flights daily.

Aeromexico already operates nonstop flights from Mexico City to Boston Logan (BOS), Newark Liberty (EWR), and Washington Dulles (IAD), further strengthening its U.S. network.

The new Mexico City-Philadelphia route is expected to benefit business and leisure travelers alike, providing a direct and convenient link between one of Mexico’s most important business hubs and a major U.S. metropolitan area. The added connection from San Luis Potosí to Atlanta will also improve access for travelers commuting between central Mexico and the southeastern U.S.

With the continued expansion of Aeromexico and Delta’s transborder joint venture, passengers can expect more connectivity, enhanced service, and greater convenience when traveling between Mexico and the U.S.
