AI Delivers Savings in Corporate Travel Amid Tech Hurdles

Artificial intelligence is proving valuable in corporate travel, delivering cost savings, improved efficiency, and better traveler experiences, according to a new report by Serko and Sabre. The 2025 State of AI in Corporate Travel survey polled 300 travel managers from U.S. companies with over $50 million in annual revenue.
More than half of the respondents (52%) reported that AI tools exceeded their expectations, while 92% said the tools at least met their expectations. Common use cases include predictive analytics and personalization, which are driving practical outcomes beyond the initial AI hype.
Despite these benefits, companies still face barriers in AI adoption. About 46% of respondents pointed to the complexity of integrating AI systems, while 19% struggle to find the right personnel for implementation. Another 14% said budget limitations are restricting their ability to fully leverage AI.
Support from travel management companies also varies. Nearly half (49%) of travel managers said they receive moderate support from partners, while 39% receive significant support. Only 11% reported receiving little to no help.
Serko and Sabre emphasized the need for strong partnerships with technology providers to overcome these challenges and unlock AI’s full potential in corporate travel.
Looking ahead, 44% of managers believe AI will significantly impact their programs within five years, with 22% expecting AI to be transformative. While 52% of respondents plan to invest in AI in the coming year, concerns around content quality, data privacy, and the pace of change are slowing adoption for some organizations.
