The highly anticipated AIC Showstoppers event took place this week at the brand-new AVA Resort Cancun, celebrating top travel agents from Canada and the US. Hosted by AIC Hotel Group, the event honors agents who have excelled in selling their hotel properties. To qualify, agents must sell a minimum of 30 rooms, with higher accolades awarded for reaching platinum, double platinum, top wedding performer, and the coveted black diamond level.

This year’s event was not only about recognition but also gave agents a sneak peek at the newly launched AVA Resort, part of AIC’s expanding portfolio. While some final touches are still in progress, attendees experienced the top-tier service, exceptional dining, and tasteful design AIC Hotel Group is renowned for.

“This is the event of the year and is widely regarded as the best in the industry,” said Jasmine Grant, BDM at AIC Hotel Group, in an interview with TravelPulse. “It’s our way to thank agents for their hard work and loyalty.”

The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour followed by a dinner featuring food stations from the resort’s restaurants. The awards ceremony honored 250 top agents, with entertainment by DJ Huggies and a live performance by singer Mya at the after-party.

Among the honorees was Cherie Peninger from Island Vows Destination Weddings, who received the Black Diamond Top Agent Award for selling over 900 rooms. Destination Weddings, based in Wayland, MA, secured the top spot in the Top 5 Wedding Selling Agencies.

Fifteen Canadian agents were also recognized, including Filomena Dunn, Suzanne Pelzer, and Steve Moore.
