Air Algérie (AH, Algiers) has announced that it has converted one of its eight A330-200s into a makeshift cargo carrier. 7T-VJV (msn 644) has been inactive in passenger operations since March 21, 2020, but operated a test flight around Algiers airport on May 22. However, it has yet to be deployed onto any revenue cargo services, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. “This solution allows us to maintain our company’s operations and facilitates the loading and unloading of the aircraft, thereby reducing wear and tear on the seats,” the airline said. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, Air Algérie operates a single dedicated freighter, a B737-800(BCF), which operates daily cargo services predominantly between Algiers and airports in France, mainly Paris CDG. The airline has also deployed some of its non-converted A330-200s on cargo services during the COVID-19-induced suspension of its scheduled services.
