Air Arabia Maroc is making significant strides in its expansion plans by establishing a new base in Tetouan, Northern Morocco, and introducing routes to four prominent European destinations. This strategic move will elevate the airline’s total bases in the country to six, bolstering its presence across Morocco.

The newly established base at Tetouan’s Sania Ramel Airport (TTU) will serve as a launchpad for flights to Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga in Spain, and Brussels, Belgium, with services set to commence in late March.

Air Arabia Group CEO, Adel Al Ali, expressed the airline’s commitment to enhancing travel options for passengers and contributing to the growth and accessibility of air travel in the kingdom. This expansion aligns with Air Arabia Maroc’s vision of delivering value-driven offers and seamless travel experiences.

Beginning March 31, Air Arabia Maroc plans to operate three weekly flights to Barcelona El Prat Airport, becoming the sole operator on this route. Simultaneously, the airline will commence twice-weekly flights to Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). The following day, on April 1, flights to Brussels Airport (BRU) will begin, also operating twice a week. A 3X-weekly service to Malaga Airport (AGP) will follow.

OAG Schedules Analyser data reveals that the Brussels market is currently served by TUI fly Belgium and Ryanair. TUI fly operates a weekly TTU-BRU route, while Ryanair offers twice-weekly flights from Brussels Charleroi Airport to TTU. Ryanair also provides two roundtrip flights per week between TTU and both AGP and MAD.

Air Arabia Maroc’s strategic expansion announcement closely follows Ryanair’s plans to add 35 new routes from Morocco in the upcoming 2024 summer season. Ryanair’s expansion includes the introduction of its first domestic flights in Morocco. The Irish low-cost carrier aims to establish 11 new connections within the North African country and introduce 24 new international services, significantly expanding its Moroccan network to 1,100 weekly flights across 175 routes during the summer season.

With Air Arabia Maroc’s new Tetouan base and European services, and Ryanair’s ambitious growth plans, Morocco’s aviation landscape is evolving rapidly, offering travelers more options and convenience in their air travel choices.
