Air Cambodia has received its first ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft, marking a significant step in the airline’s fleet modernization. The aircraft, manufacturer serial number 1716, was delivered on May 27, 2025, via a multi-stop ferry flight from ATR’s production facility in Toulouse Blagnac to Phnom Penh. The route included stops in Cairo, Dubai World Central, Hyderabad, and Bangkok Don Mueang. Initially registered as F-WNUF, the aircraft will be re-registered in Cambodia as XU-610.

The new ATR72-600 is leased from Henan Civil Aviation Development Investment Co., part of a three-aircraft deal. Two additional ATR72-600s are expected to join the fleet by the end of 2025, according to Chinese news outlet 163.com. The airline has not yet disclosed its route deployment plans for the new aircraft.

The delivery marks Air Cambodia’s first fleet addition since rebranding from Cambodia Angkor Air. The move is seen as part of the carrier’s broader strategy to strengthen regional connectivity and enhance operational efficiency through modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.

According to ch-aviation data, Air Cambodia currently operates two Airbus A320-200s, one A321-200, and two older ATR72-500s. The arrival of the ATR72-600 will support short-haul operations within Cambodia and neighboring countries, targeting high-frequency routes and underserved markets.

The ATR72-600 offers improved fuel efficiency, lower operating costs, and upgraded avionics compared to its predecessor, making it a popular choice for regional airlines in Southeast Asia. The aircraft’s induction signals Air Cambodia’s renewed commitment to expanding its domestic and regional network.
