Air Canada is set to launch three new transborder routes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in the summer of 2025, enhancing its U.S. network and expanding its reach to 21 destinations. These new routes are part of the airline’s broader strategy to grow its capacity and offer more travel options between Canada and the U.S.

The airline, in collaboration with its transborder joint-venture partner and fellow Star Alliance member, United Airlines, will increase its seat capacity by 11% for the summer of 2025 compared to the previous year. This boost is expected to enhance connectivity between YVR and the U.S., providing more travel options for passengers.

The first of the new routes will begin on May 1, 2025, with Air Canada launching service between YVR and Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Tennessee. This seasonal route will operate four times a week between May 1 and October 31, 2025. Additionally, Air Canada plans to significantly increase capacity on its Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Nashville route, with daily service in summer 2025 compared to four weekly flights in the previous year.

Starting on June 3, 2025, Air Canada will also introduce 2X-weekly year-round service from YVR to Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Florida. This will mark Vancouver as the fifth Canadian city to have direct flights to TPA. Air Canada already operates year-round service from YUL and Toronto Pearson, as well as seasonal flights from Halifax and Ottawa to Tampa. The YVR-TPA route will be operated using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

On June 4, 2025, Air Canada will launch seasonal service between YVR and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina. This will be the first time these two cities are connected nonstop. The YVR-RDU route will be operated 3X-weekly with a 737 MAX through September 30, 2025. RDU’s CEO, Michael Landguth, highlighted that Vancouver is one of the top unserved international destinations from RDU, with convenient connections to Asia via Air Canada’s transpacific gateway.

Both TPA and RDU will benefit from easy connections to Air Canada’s growing network across the Asia-Pacific region, with flights to cities like Osaka, Tokyo, and Seoul through YVR.

In addition to the new routes, Air Canada is boosting capacity on three existing U.S. routes for summer 2025. Flights to Austin, Texas, will increase from 3X-weekly to 5X-weekly, and service to Denver will be flown 2X-daily with 21% more seats. Flights to Miami will also see an increase from 3X-weekly to 4X-weekly.

Overall, Air Canada and United Airlines will offer up to 7,700 seats on 58 daily flights to the U.S. across 21 routes from YVR during the summer of 2025. The airline’s most frequently flown routes from YVR will be to Los Angeles and Seattle, both served 5X-daily, followed by San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, each served 4X-daily. This expansion solidifies Air Canada’s commitment to increasing connectivity between Canada and the U.S. while meeting growing passenger demand.
