Air Canada Expands Latin America Network With Five New Routes

Air Canada is expanding its winter 2025-26 schedule with five new routes to Latin America, including two to Lima, Peru, as the airline continues to tap into growing demand for leisure travel in the region. The newly announced services begin in December and will operate seasonally through spring 2026.
Starting December 5, Air Canada will launch twice-weekly flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima. The following day, a second Lima route will begin from Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL), also operating twice weekly through March 28, 2026. These additions mark a strategic push to strengthen the airline’s South American footprint.
On December 8, Air Canada will also begin weekly service between Montreal and Belize, running through April 7, 2026. In Mexico, two new destinations will be added to the network. From December 17 to April 8, the airline will operate weekly flights between Toronto and Puerto Escondido, a Pacific coast surf town known for its relaxed vibe. Simultaneously, service from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Tepic, the capital of Mexico’s Nayarit state, will launch. The new highway linking Tepic and Puerto Vallarta is a key driver behind the latter route.
Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s CCO and President for Cargo, said the expansion highlights the airline’s strategy to diversify its network and meet strong leisure demand. “Our new flights are designed to provide easy connections for both Canadian and European travelers, as well as to take advantage of cargo opportunities in the region,” he said.
Air Canada emphasized that the new routes to Mexico serve “under-the-radar vacation destinations,” adding to its appeal for travelers seeking lesser-known getaways. The carrier already leads the Canada–Mexico market with a 31% share of two-way seat capacity, ahead of WestJet and Aeromexico.
The airline also previously announced a new 3X-weekly service between Toronto and Guadalajara starting November 4, running through April 28, 2026, and a Toronto–Rio de Janeiro route launching December 4.
Overall, Air Canada will offer over 80,000 weekly seats to 52 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America for the winter season, a 16% increase in capacity year-over-year. The network expansion positions Air Canada to capture a larger share of outbound leisure demand while enhancing its cargo reach in the region.
