Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) will resume up to 220 daily flights between the US and Canada on 55 routes to 34 US destinations coinciding with the loosening of travel restrictions between the two countries from August 9, 2021.

This follows Ottawa’s announcement that thanks to rising vaccination rates and declining COVID-19 cases, borders would open for fully vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents from August 9, before the full re-opening of borders to any vaccinated travellers from September 7, 2021. Fully vaccinated travellers will also be exempt from quarantine. In addition, Canada from August 9 will also allow international flights to land at five more airports, namely Halifax, Québec, Ottawa Int’l, Winnipeg Int’l, and Edmonton Int’l, in addition to Montréal Trudeau, Toronto Pearson, Calgary, and Vancouver Int’l.

Air Canada said it was pleased to rebuild its Canada-US network and planned to restore services to all 57 US destinations previously served as and when conditions allowed.

“Canada and the United States share close ties, and restoring air connectivity will contribute to both countries’ economic recovery,” commented Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President (Network Planning and Revenue Management).
