Air Canada Unveils Sneak Peek of First-Ever Disney-Themed In-Flight Safety Video
In Summer 2023 Air Canada will launch the world’s first Walt Disney World–themed in-flight safety video.
On June 15, 2023, the airline shared a teaser of the video that will appear on flights across approximately 90% of the Air Canada fleet this July through to September 2023.
The film produced in collaboration with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Canada and shot by Canadian film director Melanie Chung, features iconic Walt Disney World Resort attractions and experiences.
The project is a global first for both companies, and the new in-flight safety video includes special nods to Disney alongside traditional on-board safety demonstrations.
It is not the first time, however, that airlines and the entertainment world have joined up to create memorable in-flight safety videos.
Air New Zealand pulled out all the stops in 2012 when the airline released a safety video that was inspired by the then upcoming film ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.
Members of the cast and even the director Peter Jackson made an appearance in the safety video that lasted more than four minutes.
“Family is at the centre of why so many of us travel. Over the last few years, we’ve been focused on improving the Air Canada family travel experience with family-friendly policies, family check-in counters, and shared family benefits in our Aeroplan loyalty program,” said Andy Shibata, vice president – Brand, Air Canada.
He added: “As we reflected on opportunities to bring more care and comfort to the family travel experience, we were inspired to add a little magic to everyone’s trip with the help of Disney. Our new in-flight safety video encourages travellers of all ages to learn about the safety features of our aircraft in a new and engaging way.”
