Air China and Rolls-Royce have finished construction of Beijing Aero Engine Services (BAESL), a new USD 315 million joint-venture maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Beijing Capital International Airport. The 50/50 partnership, launched after a 2023 groundbreaking, will induct its first engine in December 2025 and begin full operations in early 2026.

The BAESL facility will service Trent 700, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 1000 engines, strengthening maintenance capabilities for Air China’s widebody fleet and reducing dependence on overseas overhaul centres. As Rolls-Royce’s fourth global MRO joint venture—and its first in mainland China—the site is designed to expand the company’s regional support network.

The new Beijing hub aims to handle up to 250 engine shop visits annually by the mid-2030s, underscoring China’s growing role in global aviation maintenance and widebody engine support.
