Boeing and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) have announced a new agreement at the Paris Air Show 2023, with ALC expanding its impressive portfolio of aircraft by purchasing two 787-9 Dreamliners.

ALC has been a long-standing customer of the 787, having placed its initial order for the 787-9 in 2010. Its current aircraft portfolio includes the 787-9 and 787-10 models.

Since its introduction to revenue service in 2011, the 787 family has played a pivotal role in launching nearly 360 new nonstop routes worldwide, surpassing other jets in the same category by more than 10 times. The 787-9, capable of accommodating 296 passengers, can fly up to 7,565 nautical miles (14,010 km) in a typical two-class configuration.

Stan Deal, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed his satisfaction with ALC’s continued trust in the 787 family, stating, “ALC is a key strategic leasing partner to Boeing, and we are delighted that it continues to see the value proposition of the 787 family for its customers. With its unparalleled fuel efficiency, the 787 Dreamliner family is playing a major role in pioneering new routes in the long-haul travel market while reducing fuel use and emissions, allowing airlines to meet their sustainability objectives.”

The 787 family’s remarkable fuel efficiency, consuming 25% less fuel and generating 25% fewer emissions compared to older aircraft, has resulted in a reduction of over 125 billion pounds of carbon emissions since its entry into service.

Boasting the highest sales rate in its history, the 787 family has received over 250 orders and commitments in the past six months, emphasizing its strong market demand and popularity among airlines worldwide.
