Air New Zealand has acquired a 5 percent stake in New Zealand-based document compliance platform OneReg, deepening its partnership with the fast-growing regulatory technology firm. The investment amount was not disclosed.

The Auckland-headquartered flag carrier first began using OneReg’s platform in October 2025 to streamline compliance processes across its engineering and maintenance divisions. Following initial implementation, the airline is now planning a broader rollout across its operations and safety teams, signaling confidence in the system’s capabilities.

OneReg specializes in digital document compliance, helping organizations manage regulatory requirements, certifications and safety documentation in highly regulated industries. For airlines, maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical, operational and safety records is critical to meeting aviation authority standards and passing audits. By digitizing and centralizing these processes, compliance platforms aim to reduce administrative burden, minimize risk and improve transparency.

Air New Zealand is OneReg’s first major airline contract and its first airline investor. While the technology company has previously raised capital from other backers, this marks a strategic investment from within the aviation sector. The move reflects a growing trend of airlines investing in technology partners that support operational efficiency, safety compliance and digital transformation.

For Air New Zealand, the minority stake provides closer alignment with a platform already embedded in its technical operations. Expanding the system beyond engineering and maintenance into broader operational and safety functions could enhance oversight, reporting accuracy and regulatory responsiveness across the airline’s network.

The investment also underscores the increasing importance of regulatory technology in aviation. As compliance requirements become more complex and documentation volumes expand, carriers are seeking scalable digital solutions to manage oversight more effectively.

By taking an equity position in OneReg, Air New Zealand is positioning itself not only as a customer but also as a strategic partner, potentially benefiting from future growth as the compliance platform scales within the aviation industry and beyond.
