Air Serbia is set to enhance its regional flight capacity with the addition of three more ATR72-600 aircraft, following a dry-lease agreement with Nordic Aviation Capital. The move is part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its regional network centered around its Belgrade hub.

The airline’s Chief Executive, Jiri Marek, said that while the exact timeline for the delivery of these aircraft is yet to be finalized, it is contingent upon various supply chain factors, including maintenance, repainting, and delivery schedules. The specific identities of the aircraft to be leased are expected to be disclosed by the end of January 2024.

Currently, Air Serbia’s fleet includes seven ATR72-600 aircraft, one of which is already dry-leased from Nordic Aviation Capital. The induction of the first ATR72-600 in 2022 marked a significant step in the airline’s fleet modernization and expansion strategy.

Nordic Aviation Capital, a Danish aircraft leasing company, is recognized as the world’s largest owner of ATR72-600s, with ninety of these aircraft in its portfolio. Its major clients for the type include Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras with ten aircraft and Air Cairo in Egypt with six.

This lease agreement reflects Air Serbia’s commitment to enhancing its regional service offerings and maintaining a modern, efficient fleet. The addition of these ATR72-600s will enable the airline to offer improved connectivity and more frequent services to various destinations within its regional network.
