Air Serbia Welcomes New Airbus A330-200 with EXPO 2027 Livery

Air Serbia has celebrated the arrival of its fourth Airbus A330-200, which touched down at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) on February 10, 2025. The aircraft, registered YU-ARE, features a special EXPO 2027 Belgrade livery as Serbia prepares to host the global exhibition in two years. This marks the second A330-200 in the Air Serbia fleet to carry the EXPO 2027 branding, following the first plane’s arrival in October 2024.
The new A330-200, which was previously operated by Air Belgium and Etihad Airways, made its first commercial flight in 2014. With the addition of this aircraft, Air Serbia strengthens its long-haul operations and expands its global network, particularly to North America and China. The airline has outfitted the aircraft with 270 decorative stickers to create the EXPO-themed livery, a task that took eight people five consecutive days to complete in two shifts.
“Our new aircraft for long-haul flights is an important addition and will contribute to further expanding our network of destinations. As the national airline, we want to offer strong support to the specialised EXPO 2027 exhibition, which will take place in Belgrade from 15 May to 15 August 2027, and that is why this aircraft is adorned with that logo,” said Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.
The EXPO 2027 Belgrade livery is a visual celebration of the upcoming exhibition, which will focus on the theme “Play for humanity.” The exhibition will showcase tradition, culture, innovation, and science, with the host country’s selected theme being prominently featured. Dušan Borovčanin, CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, expressed pride in the aircraft’s visual identity, noting that it not only promotes the event but also emphasizes Serbia’s global connection. “This aircraft, which will connect Belgrade with key international destinations, simultaneously carries a message about the importance of EXPO 2027 and contributes to its worldwide recognition,” Borovčanin said.
The newest A330-200 offers a configuration of 22 seats in business class and 240 seats in economy class, providing passengers with greater comfort on long-haul flights. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce engines, adding to the airline’s fleet of modern, efficient aircraft.
With this new addition, Air Serbia completes its plan to incorporate four A330-200s into its fleet, further enhancing its capacity for international routes. Air Serbia’s current active fleet also includes 10 A319-100s, six A320-200s, three ATR 72-200s, and 10 ATR 72-600s, all contributing to the airline’s expanding network.
The arrival of this aircraft is not just a milestone for Air Serbia but also a strong symbol of Serbia’s role on the global stage as it prepares for EXPO 2027.
