Air travel expected to hit 65% of 2019 levels this summer
Air travel volume should reach 65% of pre-pandemic levels this summer, but the recovery is limited by ongoing travel restrictions in Asia, where passenger volume is predicted to reach only 35% of 2019 levels, according to a report by ForwardKeys. Meanwhile, technology company SITA reports that passengers’ acceptance of digital identification and baggage handling technology continues to increase, although uncertainty about health related travel requirements has limited the use of touchless check-in.
