AirAsia Unveils Gold A320 Livery to Mark Skytrax Win

AirAsia has revealed a striking gold-themed livery on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft (registration 9M-RAQ) to celebrate its 16th consecutive Skytrax award for ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline’. The aircraft was officially showcased during a special ceremony on June 19, 2025, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) Terminal 2.

Themed “Still Winning, Still Gold,” the custom gold livery symbolizes AirAsia’s resilience, excellence, and continued dominance in the low-cost aviation sector. The airline said the design is also a tribute to the nearly one billion passengers it has served since its launch in 2001.

AirAsia highlighted that the golden paint reflects the brand’s strength and enduring success, while the cabin interior has also been upgraded with refined gold accents to enhance the inflight experience for guests. The makeover marks a new era for the airline as it continues to evolve while maintaining affordable fares and award-winning service.

To commemorate the occasion, AirAsia has launched a 16-day promotional fare campaign running from June 19 to July 3, 2025. Discounted tickets are available for travel between July 2, 2025, and March 31, 2026. The special fares cover popular destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Bangkok, Okinawa, Jakarta, and Manila.

The golden aircraft is now in active service and represents a visual reminder of AirAsia’s legacy and its continued commitment to excellence in budget air travel.
